Michael Phelps Saves US Pride
Michael Phelps is the name throughout the world now! He is a RECORD MAN! He created 7 world records in his eight gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Out of the 19 golds won by America, 8 belongs to Phelps. Without his contribution, US gold tally would have reduced by 11 and in fact could have gone to third place as against the current 2nd place in the medal tally.
So far he has won 8 golds in the current version and then 6 gold medals in the Athens olympic to have a tally of 14 gold medals, which is also a record.
This is almost an one man show for US.

Better than 1983 Cricket World Cup Win: Kapil Dev

The former Indian Captain who lifted the 1983 Prudential Cricket World Cup in Lords defined the Gold Medal win by Abinav Bindra in the 10m Air Rifle Shooting as better than the world cup win.
Abinav Bindra won the first individual gold medal for India in the Olympic history on August 11, 2008. Though India have won gold medals in the previous editions of the olympics, this is the first time India has entered the medal tally using an individual brilliance.
Kapil said, he is happy and wished Abinav Bindra on winning the medal for India. It is good that personalities from across India regardless of the sport, wishing and cherishing this win.
Abinav Bindra wins first Gold for India!

Beijing Olympic Begins!

At the exact time of 08-08-08 08:08 :08 PM (8th day, 8th month of 08th year of the 21st century, at 08 hours, 08 minutes and 08 seconds), China's Prime Minister officially announced the opening of the 2008 Olympic Games, which is 29th in the history.
The colorful evening was so spectacular that all those who contributed for the opening ceremony absolutly deserve a thundering applause and great appreciation. Robot man walked in the sky, which was really exciting.
The fire work display, the traditional music using ancient percusion instruments and the flourscent stick, the dance performance were amazing. The song by a kid is also attractive.
The event had almost 2.3 billion viewers around the world watching this program and 91,000 people watching it live from Bird's Nest. With 2008 drummers doing the count down, the event was kicked off officially at the right time, 8 PM, the lucky number of Chinese.
The show went on for almost 4 hours with approximately 15000 performers taking over the opening ceremony, which was choreographed by masterlcass Chinese director Zhang Yimou.
Though there were protests against China's policy on Tibet, and recent remarks by US President Bush on China's record on human rights against Thailand, and a threat by France president to pull off from the opening ceremony, everything went well.
More than 200 countries are participating in this 16-day event. The event was witnessed by top political leaders--George Bush, Vladimir Putin, Sonia Gandhi,
China has got 10 out of 10 for the opening ceremony. Let us wish Chinese brothers and sisters, a very good luck in conducting this evenut successfully!
